Michael Munro was born in Glasgow and read English and History at the University of Glasgow. He worked as an editor in various departments of Collins Publishers (HarperCollins since the merger with Harper & Row) and specialized as a lexicographer, becoming Managing Editor for English Dictionaries. Currently freelance lexicographer/editor/writer, he has published "The Patter" (1985) and its sequels, as well as two repositories of Glasgow street humor, "The Crack" and "The Old Firm Joke Book" (1996/97).
