Glasgow Patter: on the bevvy...
miraculous
(usually pronounced marockyoolus) This means extremely drunk. It has been around a long time, as shown by this 1873 extract from the former Glasgow periodical The Bailie, in which a court witness was asked to describe the degree of drunkenness exhibited by an accused person: 'I've seen him the waur o' whusky; he had got a dram, an' was a little intoxicated, but he wasna miraklous.'
The term is sometimes shortened to maroc: 'Did ye see her last night? Maroc or what?'
wee goldie
A familiar name for a glass of whisky, alluding to the drink's golden colour: 'Stick a wee goldie for auld Walter on the round next time.'
