Anything that smells unpleasant may be said to to ming: "That cheese disny half ming." A ming is a stink: " See the ming when I took the lid aff the bin?"
Mingin means unpleasantly smelly but its use is extended to cover anything that is considered bad: "Ah wis that lookin forward tae that film an it wis pure mingin."
